Lighting Control Modules (LCMs)

Installation is straightforward by design. The Cucumber Cu-Connect LCM requires only 230Vac Live, Neutral, and Earth connections — no network cabling and no switch signal drops. 

Pre-configured settings can be prepared in advance and uploaded on-site via the free Cucumber app, enabling a rapid and consistent rollout across multiple zones or buildings.

The system is built on the Bluetooth mesh protocol for reliable, secure wireless communication.

All Cucumber sensors and Cu-Connect modules support over-the-air (OTA) firmware updates through the Cucumber app, allowing devices to receive the latest software updates. User settings are backed up to a secure cloud server hosted in Europe, making it easier to restore system settings if hardware needs to be replaced.

Yes. Cucumber's dimming sensor range and Cu-Connect LCM are fully DALI-compatible, supporting DALI-controlled luminaires across a wide range of applications. The Cu-Connect system includes automatic DALI addressing, eliminating manual addressing and significantly reducing commissioning time. Our products work with DALI drivers from all major luminaire manufacturers, making Cucumber a flexible and reliable choice for DALI-based projects of any scale.  Cucumber is a member of the DALI Alliance; visit their site for more information on the global DALI smart lighting control standard. 

No specialist equipment or third-party software is required. All Cucumber sensors and Cu-Connect modules are commissioned using the free Cucumber Lighting Controls app, available for iOS and Android. The app provides a straightforward, guided setup process — including a Quick Start mode for fast deployment — and requires no prior experience with lighting control systems. Settings can be configured, grouped, and saved remotely, and pre-configured profiles can be uploaded to the site to ensure consistency across large installations. Remote commissioning support is also available from the Cucumber technical team where required.

The test press switch has multiple functions for pre-commissioning checks. A single short press turns the relays on/off to test the LCM relay functionality. A double tap sends dimming commands to the fittings to test DALI connections for DALI dimming luminaires. A long press restarts the LCM and initiates the auto-commissioning function.

The LCM does not normally affect the non-emergency luminaires when it initiates an emergency test function. So the non-emergency luminaires will remain on during the test.

Any ELT latching-contact key switch can initiate the emergency test when wired into the SIU. The most commonly used is a fishtail latching-contact emergency test switch.

We can provide a prewired sensor lead. This is a single-pair, mains-rated LSOH flexible cable and associated connector to plug the sensor into the LCM. For further details, please refer to the 'Luminaire and Sensor Leads' datasheet.
